CYBER ALERT: The "Davido 10GB Data & ₦10,000 Airtime" WhatsApp Scam Explained

A dangerous WhatsApp message is currently circulating across Nigeria, promising free 10GB data and ₦10,000 airtime from Davido. TechnyFire’s investigation desk is warning all users — this is a phishing scam designed to steal your phone number, airtime, and personal data.

How The Scam Works:
The message directs you to suspicious websites like davidosupport.site or similar .online domains. Once you click, the site forces you to forward the message to 10 or more WhatsApp groups before “unlocking” the reward — spreading the scam further. Hidden in the background, the link silently subscribes your number to paid SMS services that drain your airtime without your consent.

How To Spot It:

  1. Fake domains ending in .site or .online
  2. Forces you to share to multiple groups to “unlock” reward
  3. Promises celebrity giveaways (Davido, Wizkid, MTN, Airtel branding)
  4. Creates urgency , “offer expires in 10 minutes”

What To Do If You Received It:

  1. Do NOT click the link
  2. Delete the message immediately
  3. Block and report the sender
  4. Warn friends and family who may have sent it to you
